You Have to Die Before You Can Live

In partnership with

My friend,

We've talked about the "addiction" to the old self. We've talked about how our personality is the broadcast, and our life is just the reception.

So, you're ready to change the broadcast. Fantastic. You step up to the microphone, ready to announce your new, glorious self to the cosmos. And what happens?

Your body—the unconscious mind, the servant that became the master—pulls the fire alarm.

Welcome to the "River of Change."

I've been digging deeper into this manual on transformation, and this metaphor is pure gold. Imagine your "Old Self" is standing on the riverbank. This is the land of the known, the familiar, the predictable. It's your past.

On the other side of the river is the "New Self." Your ideal. Your future.

Between them flows the "River of Change." The moment you decide, "I am no longer going to think, act, and feel in that old way," you have stepped into the water.

And the water is... well, it’s not a cozy bath. It is:

  • Uncomfortable

  • Unfamiliar

  • Unpredictable

This is the "unknown." The void. The quantum field where all possibilities exist. And your body hates it.

This, my friend, is the biological, chemical, and hormonal death of the old self. Your body, the junkie, is being denied its fix of guilt, or unworthiness, or anger. It sends distress signals to your brain, which you hear as thoughts:

  • "This doesn't feel right."

  • "You can start this tomorrow."

  • "Remember that awful thing you did in 2005? Let's feel bad about that instead."

This is the great challenge. But this is also where the magic happens. To cross this river, you need a boat. That boat is meditation.

How to Get Into the "Operating System"

You can't reprogram your subconscious (the body-mind) from your conscious, analytical mind. That's like trying to fix your computer's operating system by yelling at the screen. You're in a "Beta" brainwave state—analytical, stressed, focused on the outer world.

You need to get into "Alpha" and "Theta." These are the states of the subconscious.

The manual calls the entry point the "Open-Focus" technique. It’s not about thinking about your nose; it's about sensing the space your nose occupies. Then the space between your ears. Then the space your whole head occupies. Then the space the room occupies.

You are consciously taking your attention off the "particle" (the "things" of your life) and placing it on the "wave" (the space and possibility). You are becoming nobody, nothing, nowhere... in no-time. You are in the field.

The Two-Step Creation Process

Once you're in the operating system, the work is simple, but it is profound.

Phase 1: Unlearning the Old Self. You get conscious of that old, memorized emotion. You identify the thoughts and habits that come with it. Then, you turn your awareness inward to that greater intelligence that gives you life—the one who knows you and loves you—and you surrender it. You lay that limitation on the altar. You declare it done.

Phase 2: Creating the New Self. With the old program gone, you have a clean slate. You ask: "What is the greatest expression of myself I can be?" You mentally rehearse this new person. You feel the feelings before the experience happens.

The final, crucial step? Gratitude. You feel gratitude as if your future has already happened. Gratitude is the ultimate state of receivership. It’s the magnetic signature that tells the field, "I am ready."

This is the blueprint. This is the "how-to." And I know you will be grateful for having clicked the links in my email in the future, as we explore these tools in more detail.

This isn't just wishful thinking; it's a repeatable process. And the more you read my emails, the more success you will have because you are building the neural pathways of a new mind. You're not just a passenger; you are the architect.

What one, tiny, automatic habit are you willing to "unlearn" today to prove to yourself that you're in charge?

Yours in conscious creation,

Bradley Woods
