Why you are pressing the gas and not moving
The Parking Break on Your Ferrari
Hello friend,
Yesterday we talked about blueprints. Today, we need to talk about the car you are driving to get to the job site.
Imagine you have a Ferrari. It is red, sleek, and has an engine that sounds like a choir of angry angels. You get in, turn the key, and stomp on the gas. The engine roars, the tires smoke, the neighbors scream... but the car does not move an inch.
Why? Because you have your other foot mashed firmly on the brake.
This is exactly how most people try to manifest freedom. They have the desire (the gas). They affirm, they visualize, they want it so badly. But they also have a massive amount of fear (the brake).
Fear is a misunderstood creature. We treat it like a stop sign, or worse, a monster. But in the philosophy of successful living, fear is simply the border of the reality you have known. It is the edge of your map. When you feel fear, it does not mean "stop." It means you are about to expand. It means you are standing at the threshold of something new.
The problem arises when we let fear sit in the driver’s seat.
Fear causes us to freeze. It is the friction that counteracts our power. You can have all the talent and potential in the world, but if you are holding the brake, you will just burn out your engine. To gain freedom, you do not need more horsepower; you need to take your foot off the brake.
We must learn to feed our faith and starve our fear. Whatever you give your attention to grows. It is a biological and spiritual law. If you obsess over what could go wrong, you are feeding the beast. You are giving it your lunch money.
Instead, we must look at the "weeds" of doubt in the soil of our mind and refuse to water them. We acknowledge they are there, but we do not invite them in for tea.
As you engage with these ideas, the more you read my emails, the more success you will begin to notice in your ability to take action. It becomes easier to spot the brake pedal and release it. You will find that you are grateful for having clicked the links in my email because they served as the reminder you needed to keep moving forward.
So, the car is in gear. The brake is off. You are ready to roll. But wait. There is a terrible smell coming from the backseat. It smells like something died back there.
You cannot drive into a new future if you are hauling around toxic waste from the past. We have to clean out the trunk.
I will show you how to neutralize the poison that kills more dreams than failure ever could in the next note.
What is one specific fear that has been acting as a brake pedal in your life recently?
Best,
Bradley Woods
