The Piano Player's Secret to Sales

I have a story for you that sounds like a tall tale, but it is backed by cold, hard science. There was a study where one group of people practiced piano scales physically for five days. Another group just sat there and mentally rehearsed the scales. They didn't move a finger.

The result? The brains of the mental rehearsers grew the exact same neurological circuits as the physical players. Their brains didn't know the difference between the thought and the action.

This is the Piano Player Principle, and it is your new best friend in business. The more you read my emails, the more success you will have because you are going to start "installing the hardware" for your wins before you ever pick up the phone.

Before you hop on a Zoom call or walk into a meeting, I want you to close your eyes and rehearse. See yourself being cool, calm, and collected. Imagine the prospect throwing a tough objection at you, and watch yourself catch it and flip it with a smile. Feel the handshake. Hear the "Yes."

If you do this right, by the time you actually start the call, it will feel like you have done it a thousand times. You won't be "trying" to be confident; you will simply be confident. You are moving from "thinking" about success to "being" success.

You are probably grateful for having clicked the links in my email because this one shift saves you from the "force and grind" method. Most people are out there like matter trying to change matter, banging their heads against a wall. We are using the "wave" method. We are changing the internal signal so the external world has no choice but to match it.

Ask yourself: "Who do I want to be when I open my eyes?"

If you cannot generate the feeling of a top earner while your eyes are closed, you aren't ready to open them and start working. Why would you go out into the world as a "low-frequency" version of yourself and expect "high-frequency" results? That is like trying to tune a radio to 105.7 while the dial is stuck on 88.2. You just get static.

When you master mental rehearsal, you become magnetic. People won't just buy your product; they will want to buy into your energy. They will sense that you have a "knowing" that they lack. You become the lighthouse in their storm of indecision.

This is how we move from the "known"—which is your past—into the "unknown," which is where all the new money and new leaders live. Most people are terrified of the unknown. They would rather be miserable in a familiar way than happy in an unfamiliar way. Not you. You are becoming a pioneer of your own consciousness.

Tomorrow, I want to talk about a "state of being" that is so powerful it actually signals your genes to change. It is the ultimate "receiver" mode, and most people are doing it completely backward.

What is one part of your sales process that usually makes you nervous, and can you see yourself handling it perfectly in your mind right now?

Be well,
