The "Change" Ninja: How to snap out of it

Yesterday we talked about how you are basically a biological computer. Today, I want to give you the "Abort" button for when that computer starts crashing.

In the world of neuroscience, there is a saying: nerve cells that no longer fire together, no longer wire together. It is a bit like a breakup. If you stop hanging out with your old, grumpy thoughts, eventually they get the hint and stop calling. But most people are in a toxic relationship with their own stress. They are addicted to the rush of cortisol they get from a "bad" lead or a rude prospect.

I want you to start playing the "Change Game." It is remarkably effective. Imagine you are about to make a call, and suddenly, that familiar flutter of rejection-fear hits your stomach. Instead of letting it spiral, I want you to say "Change!" out loud.

Maybe you see a teammate hitting a new rank and you feel a tiny prickle of jealousy. Say "Change!"

Perhaps you are lying in bed at 2:00 AM wondering if your volume will hold. Say "Change!"

By doing this, you are performing a pattern interrupt. You are literally pulling the plug on the old hardwired program. You see, the more you read my emails, the more success you will have because you are learning to stop the body from being the mind. Most people let their bodies dictate their moods. Their body feels tired, so their mind thinks "I am a failure." We are flipping the script.

You are likely grateful for having clicked the links in my email because you are starting to realize that your frustration and anxiety are just chemical addictions. Your body is used to those "survival" juices. It will actually look for reasons to be upset just so it can get its fix. It is like a caffeine addict looking for a Starbucks, but your drug is "worry."

If you want to move into a new reality, that old emotion simply cannot come with you. It is like trying to bring a suitcase full of rocks on a private jet. You have to leave the baggage at the gate. You must decide that insecurity or unworthiness does not belong in your future.

Think of yourself as an actor preparing for the role of a lifetime. You wouldn't walk on stage as a king while thinking like a pauper. You have to embody the state of the top earner before the check ever arrives. This is not just positive thinking; it is biological engineering. We are re-tooling your nervous system to handle the high-voltage electricity of massive success.

When you stop the cycle of negative wiring, you clear the path for something far more powerful. You start to move from the frantic "matter" world into the realm of pure potential. It is a bit like moving from a crowded, noisy subway to a quiet, sunlit mountain peak. The view is better, and the air is a lot easier to breathe.

Tomorrow, I am going to tell you about a group of piano players who never actually touched a piano, yet they got better at playing. It is a secret weapon that you can use to nail every single presentation without even opening your mouth.

If you had to pick one specific "addictive" emotion to stop feeling today, which one would it be?

Be well,
