The remote control is in your hand (seriously)
Have you ever felt like your life is a movie you’re watching, but someone else is in the projection booth messing with the focus? Maybe the genre keeps switching from "Inspirational Drama" to "Slapstick Comedy" without your consent. We have all been there. We look at our bank accounts, our waistlines, or our relationships and think, "Well, I guess this is just my lot in life."
But here is the cosmic joke: You are the projectionist.
The first step in any strategic plan for a massive life is accepting a singular, immutable premise: The locus of control is inside you. As the old proverb goes, "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he." Your mind is the creative cause of everything that happens. The external world—the traffic, the weather, the economy—is just a mirror reflecting your internal state.
If you are waiting for the world to change before you feel good, you are doing it backward. That is like shouting at a mirror, demanding it smile first. It won't work. True power is not found in reacting to circumstances; it is found in consciously directing the thoughts that create them.
The Myth of Earning Your Keep
Now, here is where most people trip over their own shoelaces. They spend their entire lives trying to "shore up their self-image." They work tirelessly to feel worthy of the good they desire. They act like they are on a cosmic probation period, hoping the Universe will finally sign off on their release papers.
Stop it.
You are the highest form of creation on the face of the earth. Your worth is inherent. It is absolute. You do not need to earn your spot here any more than a rose needs to earn its right to bloom. It just does.
This understanding shifts the entire game. The question is no longer, "Am I worthy of this goal?" The real question is, "Is this goal worthy of me?"
When you realize this, you stop begging for scraps and start ordering from the main menu. You realize that the more you read my emails, the more success you will have in selecting ideals that deserve your life’s energy. You transform your pursuit from a desperate quest for validation into a conscious act of investing your life in something magnificent.
Own Your Results
This leads us to the Law of Responsibility. You are responsible for how you feel, the results you get, and the direction your life is moving. You are not responsible for other people (unless they are toddlers or highly dependent house plants), but you are responsible to yourself.
Blaming your parents, the government, your horoscope, or the fact that Mercury is in retrograde is a surrender of power. It is handing the keys of your Ferrari to a toddler. Accepting full responsibility is the only way to get the keys back.
So, we have established that you are the boss and that you are inherently worthy of the best life has to offer. That is a solid foundation. But a foundation without a house is just a concrete slab. We need to build something upon it. We need a target.
Tomorrow, we are going to look at why most people’s goals are as inspiring as a wet sock, and how to set a target that actually scares you (in a good way).
So, here is my question for you:
If you knew you were inherently worthy and couldn't fail, what is the one thing you would demand from life right now?
