Stop wishing. Start demanding.

The Difference Between a Wish and a Missile

In partnership with

Hello there,

I see people treating the Universe like a drive-thru window where the microphone is broken. They mumble. They say, "I’d like some more money, maybe?" or "I wish I was happier." Then they drive up to the window and are surprised when they get a bag of empty wrappers.

The Creative Intelligence that runs this show does not respond to vague "wishes." Wishing is a passive activity. It is tepid. It is the lukewarm water of the soul.

To get what you want, you need a "Definite Chief Aim."

This is not a To-Do list. It is a burning, pulsating obsession. The philosophy teaches us that all achievement, every single bit of it, begins with an intense desire. Not a hope. A desire. It must be definite. You cannot go to the airline counter and ask for a ticket to "somewhere nice." You have to say "Paris." And you have to mean it.

Think of Noah (from the boat story). He didn't have a vague notion of floating. He had a definite plan. He had dimensions. He had a deadline.

You must crystallize your desire into a specific, written statement. The act of writing it down is the first step of moving a thought from the air into the physical world. It is the bridge. As you continue to read my emails, you will find your own success becoming inevitable, simply because you are learning to operate the machinery of your own mind.

Here is the kicker: You must see yourself already in possession of the thing you want.

This is where people get tripped up. They look at their bank account, see twelve dollars, and say, "Bradley, I cannot lie to myself." But you are not lying. You are operating in the realm of Cause, not Effect. The twelve dollars is the past. Your Definite Chief Aim is the future that you are pulling into the present.

If you obsess over a plan, and you back it with a definite purpose, the Universe has no choice but to hand it over. It is a law. It is like physics. If you drop a ball, it falls. If you hold a Definite Chief Aim with burning desire, it manifests.

But where does the plan come from?

You might be thinking, "I know what I want, but I have no idea how to get it." That is fine. You don't need to know "how" yet. You just need to know "what." The "how" is cooked up in a very specific room in your brain.

You are probably so grateful you clicked the links in this email, because you are realizing you don't need all the answers today. You just need the target.

Tomorrow, I am going to take you on a tour of the "workshop" in your mind—the place where old ideas go to get a makeover and where you can pull brilliance right out of thin air.

But first, tell me this:

If you knew you could not fail, what is the specific amount of money or the specific role you would demand from life right now?

Best,

Bradley Woods
