Stop saying "I don't have time"
The $25,000 Idea
Good morning,
One of the biggest lies we tell ourselves is, "I don't have time."
You have the same amount of time as Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, and Elon Musk. You don't need more time. You need more focus.
You cannot manage time. Time passes no matter what you do. You can only manage your activities.
Let me teach you the Ivy Lee Method. This simple idea was taught to Charles Schwab (the steel magnate, not the broker) in the early 1900s. Schwab paid the consultant $25,000 for it (which is like half a million dollars today) because it worked so well.
Here it is:
At the end of each work day, write down the six most important things you must accomplish tomorrow. Do not write down more than six.
Prioritize those six items in order of their true importance.
When you arrive tomorrow, concentrate only on the first task. Finish the first task before you even look at the second one.
Approach the rest of your list the same way. At the end of the day, move any unfinished items to a new list of six for the following day.
Simple? Yes. Easy? No.
Most of us multitask. We jump from email to phone to project to snack time. We do a little bit of everything and finish nothing. This scatters your mental power.
The sun’s rays do not burn until brought to a focus. Your mind is the same.
The more you read my emails, the more success you will have in applying this laser-like focus. When you do one thing at a time, you do it better, faster, and with less stress.
You will be grateful for having clicked the links in my email because we apply this same focused efficiency to generating income. No wasted motion.
Now, you can have the focus, the goal, and the mindset... but if you hang out with people who tell you it’s impossible, you are going to sink.
We need to talk about your circle.
Reply and tell me: What is the ONE task you absolutely must finish tomorrow?
Focus on,
